Class Introduction
The Omnibus Magazine Sam Hood Translation Prize Preparation Class will guide aspiring translators to refine their skills and craft elegant, stylish, and creative translations from Greek and Latin prose and verse. Under the guidance of an experienced teacher, students will delve into the nuances of translation, learning to balance accuracy with creativity to produce translations that are both faithful to the original text and imbued with their own unique voice.

Class Structure
5 one-on-one classes, 1 hour each, 5 hours of classes in total.

Session | Topics |
1 | Discuss the contest details, translation basics, and judges’ expectations. |
2 | Discuss past translation submissions and a translation strategy. |
3 | Discuss any difficulties in the translation process and complete the first draft of the translation. |
4 | Continue edits to complete the second draft of your work. |
6 | Complete any final edits. Complete the submission process. |
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email.
