Class Introduction
This course offers an in-depth exploration of two beloved novels, “Jasper” and “The Martian,” while guiding students through three essential types of writing: narrative, informative/explanatory, and argumentative. With a structured schedule and a focus on building strong writing foundations, this course is perfect for young writers eager to excel.

Teacher Background
An English writing and humanities teacher from a top American private high school with over 31 years of teaching experience. He is a multiple-time National Outstanding Teacher Award recipient and award-winning documentary filmmaker.
Outcome
- Students will master narrative, informative/explanatory, and argumentative writing, producing well-structured essays.
- Students will enhance their ability to analyze themes and characters in the novels, then applying these insights to their writing.
- Students will learn to craft persuasive arguments, supported by evidence and logical reasoning, in their writing.
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email.
