Class Introduction
In the Middle School Literature class, students will have an in-depth reading of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Jasper,” and “A Wrinkle in Time.” Through in-depth discussion and writing analysis, students will enhance English speaking and reading analysis skills.
Course Highlights:
- An in-depth reading of three classic novels beloved by middle school students!
- Engaging and lively classes where students will participate in role-playing and Read Aloud sessions to improve their speaking and comprehension skills!
- The author of “Jasper” will visit the class to provide teaching on reading and writing!
- A comprehensive study of literary comparative analysis, including comparisons with the famous literary work “The Odyssey.”
Teacher Background
An English writing and humanities teacher from a top American private high school with over 31 years of teaching experience. He is a multiple-time National Outstanding Teacher Award recipient and award-winning documentary filmmaker.
Outcome
By the end of the course, students will learn strategies for effective reading, outlining, drafting, and revision. They will also learn some foundational principles for effective writing, whether in shorter- or longer-form responses.
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email.
