Class Introduction

This course will deepen students’ understanding of the fundamentals of Latin grammar, syntax, and morphology. At all times, we will contextualize our study of the language in the history, literature, and culture of the ancient Roman people. Students will build upon their core Latin vocabulary and develop skills in translating Latin to the point that they will be able to read adapted passages of original Latin prose and poetry. While foreign language curricula vary widely, this course will also prepare students to take a level 2 Latin class at many of the most prestigious private schools in the world.

We will evaluate students’ proficiency and place them into the appropriate class to ensure they learn at a pace that matches their current skills.

Schedule

Latin Level 2: 20 classes, 2 hours each class, 40 hours of classes in total.

There will be a dedicated NLE Intermediate prep course (20 hours, or 10 classes) that students may choose to enroll in upon completing Latin Level 2. This focused preparation will help students build confidence in reading comprehension and cultural knowledge.
