Competition Preparation
College Application Essay Bootcamp
Students will learn how to write college application essays. During the first two group sessions, students will be shown examples of strong and weak essays, in addition to given guidance on how to write the Common Application Essay, the “Why School” Essay, and the UC Application Essay. Following the two group sessions, students will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the teacher.
Diamond Challenge Business Competition Prep
Aspiring entrepreneurs will create, promote, and market a company to win over the Diamond Challenge Business Competition’s judges. In this intensive format, students will conduct the business ideation process, create a business plan, conduct environmental scanning, establishing the organizational mission, vision, and value statements, create marketing and promotion strategies, write the business proposal and create a pitch-deck required by the Diamond Challenge Business Competition.
Chapbook Making & Competition Prep
Students will dip their toes into the world of publishing-chapbook making. Participants will write and polish 4 poems and 1 short story or creative non-fiction, assemble their work into a portfolio, and publish it in a stylish, professional manner in the form of a print or digital chapbook. Students will be given a training in InDesign to create a completed chapbook.
Math Competition Preparation for AMC10
The course helps students fill in the knowledge gaps required for the AMC10 competitions. Students will learn the problem-solving strategies of AMC10 and AMC12. Via practice questions, real exam questions from past years, students will be more confident and prepared for the upcoming competitions.
Art Portfolio Preparation Program
During this intensive portfolio preparation online course students will carry out a series of drawing, design and three-dimensional projects that will promote creative investigation, experimentation with materials, risk-taking and critical dialogue. These creative practices will serve to engage students in a foundational experience, to develop intellectual and practical skills and elicit the confidence necessary
