Class Introduction
Students learn to become better public speakers through learning theory and applying the theory into practice. The teacher will teach a variety of communication methods, instruct students to adapt to the speech according to the audience and information, accurately support their ideas, and learn to select and organize speech materials.
The topic of the TED Talk will run through the entire course. Students will research, write and publish their own TED Talk speeches. At the end of the course, students can participate in competitions at the high school or university level and apply for high schools, and universities in the United States using this portfolio piece.

Classwork includes:
Introductory speech: students will give a 1-2 minute speech;
Voice, video, and text analysis of persuasive speeches: Students will choose persuasive speeches and analyze the following content: content, handouts, tone, persuasiveness, oral and non-verbal questions, 3-5 minutes;
Spontaneous speech activities: Students will participate in speech activities on topics in the classroom
Final project: This final project will run throughout the entire course. Students will research, write and deliver their own speeches, with the purpose of creating speech works that students can later participate in competitions at the high school or university level.
Feedback
Students and their parents will receive brief feedback after each class regarding the student’s general participation in class. Students will also receive feedback on graded assignments via email.
